Managing Scale and Elevation
The Harleysville landscape at Saratoga Way presented a common hurdle: an expansive, empty backyard lacking a defined purpose. The homeowners required a wide-format footprint to accommodate separate zones for dining and relaxation.
Traditional wood would require constant staining on such a large surface, making a low-maintenance composite solution the only viable path for this dual-section layout.
Engineering the Dual-Tier Layout
- Structural Zoning: Framed two connected platforms to mirror the interior flow of the home.
- Material Selection: TimberTech Prime+ in Dark Cocoa was selected for its rugged durability and deep pigmentation.
- Multi-Level Transition: The boards were installed in a configuration that creates a natural step down between the upper 23X16 and lower 18X16 sections.
- Integrated Features: A white RDI Finyl Vinyl railing was installed, topped with a flat-surface Drink Rail to act as a built-in shelf for refreshments.
A Harleysville Landmark
This project represents a high-impact investment, providing a weather-resistant sanctuary. The high-contrast pairing of Dark Cocoa decking and white RDI railing provides a clean, modern aesthetic.
With over 700 square feet of new outdoor space, the Saratoga Way residence now possesses a permanent, multi-functional extension of the home.
